I took this photo with the young lady against a brick wall. I created this photos using a lensbaby 2.0. I like the contrast of the photo, and how her attitude and bright red hair stands out.

I took this photo at a wedding. I shot this image using 24-85mm lense and the image was partly taken this way by accident due to the movements of the Ushers on the sides. The focus was the woman fixing one of the Ushers flowers. What I like about the photo is how the two side Ushers frame the subject really well. The outside Ushers movement and blur draws us into the subject.

I took this photo at a party. I created this shot using a lensbaby 2.0. What I really like about this photo is how surreal it looks. The two front heads almost look like they are floating, while we only see the bodies of the people sitting farther back. It looks really surreal.

my niece, emilie, sent this image of herself at last year's san francisco art deco ball. it was a beautiful picture, but converting it to black and white seemed more appropriate to the period she and the car were emulating.
i isolated the various lights and highlights and blurred them to make them look reminiscent of foggy evenings in the city. one can imagine dashiel hammett and sam spade wandering around somewhere behind her in the streets of chinatown.

Taken with an Olympus C808WZ in superzoom mode, this is passion vine tendril where a spider has set up residence. The out of focus object in the forground is a butterfly egg. The widezoom mode automatically creates a very shallow depth of field. Other postwork was done on a Mac in PhotoshopCS.

Jupiter PelicanMatthew Hyner
Date: 16 Jul 2007
Folks always comment on how it must take great patience, and skill to capture great wildlife photos, this photo happened almost by magic. I figured I was in the neighborhood and would get a picture of the lighthouse in Jupiter, Florida during my lunch break. As I stepped out of the car and before I closed the door, with my 20D and 80-400mm OS lens in hand a wispy cloud crossed in front of the harsh afternoon sun helping cut down the harsh light. Just then as a pelican decided to land right in front of me. Quickly setting my exposure I captured this while resting the camera on the car door. At 350mm with the pelican being so close it was easy to isolate it from the lighthouse, and still keep the lighthouse recognizable.
I have taken some wonderful photos through the use of patience and skill, but have never found a substitute for being in the right place at the right time when magic happens.

Taken with an Olympus C808WZ in superzoom mode, we have here a very tiny moth, about a centimeter from wing tip to wing tip. The close subject and superzoom mode creates a very shallow depth of field. Other postwork was done on a Mac in PhotoshopCS.

The road home back to glasgow from mallaig on the west coast of scotland wanders through woodlands growing amongst outcropings of granite covered in soft green moss.
i came upon this part of the wood early one morning when the sun was, unusually, shining. if you ever come to scotland, you must drive along this part of the coast.
the image was converted to black and white using the Alien Skin Exposure filter. I created a mask to isolate the highlights and used gaussian blur on those areas.
i was somewhat saddened to lose the sunlight, but gratified to see that what had appeared as sun, now looked like the fog in the presidio in san francisco when it comes steaming in through the golden gate.

Tuscan SummerC. David Tobie

This shot of the iconic grove of Tuscan Cypress trees is a favorite among clients for the fact that it distills the scene to the essential Tuscan elements as a painting would: rusty, rolling wheat fields, dark pointed Cypress trees, and a cloud filled sky, all drenched in the Tuscan sun. The original, sharply focussed, accurately colored image was uninspiring, but had potential. Unfortunately I did not have my LensBaby with me the day I shot this, so hours of masking, Gaussian and radial blurring, selective color adjustment, and other advanced Photoshop work were required to obtain the selective blur effects that would have come automatically in a LensBaby shot. Moral of the story: I now carry a LensBaby2 everywhere; its small, and when you need it, nothing else will do...

Zakim BridgeJoshua Trupin
Date: 16 Jul 2007
I took this photo on a cold February day in Boston. I had just bought a Ukranian tilt-shift lens, and wanted to test it out. The Zakim Bridge across the Charles River seemed like the perfect subject. I gave the lens as much tilt as I could, and focused 2/3 of the way up the north-side support.
Taken with a Nikon D200 at ISO 100, f/2.8, 1/2500 sec with a Hartblei 35mm Super-Rotator, tilted about 8 degrees.
